Lo sci alpinismo di fine stagione ha un fascino particolare: le giornate si allungano, la neve resiste nelle zone d’ombra e le piste si svuotano. Il manto cambia consistenza nel corso della giornata, compatto al mattino e più morbido nel pomeriggio, e per questo l’attrezzatura giusta diventa essenziale. Tra gli elementi più importanti ci sono i bastoncini, indispensabili per mantenere ritmo ed equilibrio. Quelli a lunghezza fissa offrono leggerezza e precisione, mentre i telescopici garantiscono versatilità: si regolano in base alla pendenza, si ripiegano facilmente e occupano poco spazio nello zaino. A prescindere dalla scelta del bastoncino è bene ricordare come eseguire la manutenzione. Nei bastoni telescopici, dopo l’utilizzo bisogna eliminare qualsiasi residuo di sporco, con un panno umido senza l’uso di detergenti, separare i tubi e lasciarli asciugare in un luogo fresco lontano da fonti di luce e calore. Prima dell’utilizzo bisogna sempre controllare che il sistema di bloccaggio sia perfettamente funzionante e verificare eventuali ammaccature, crepe, possibili anche su rotelle e punte.

Late-season ski mountaineering has a special allure: the days are getting longer, the snow holds firm in the shaded areas, and the slopes are emptying. The snowpack changes consistency throughout the day, compact in the morning and softer in the afternoon, making the right equipment essential. Among the most important items are poles, essential for maintaining pace and balance. Fixed-length poles offer lightness and precision, while telescopic poles guarantee versatility: they adjust to the slope, fold easily, and take up little space in your backpack. Regardless of the pole you choose, it's important to remember how to maintain them. After use, remove any dirt from telescopic poles with a damp cloth (without detergents), separate the tubes, and let them dry in a cool place away from light and heat sources. Before use, always check that the locking system is working properly and inspect for any dents or cracks, including those on the baskets and tips.

The black EVA handle, with long foam padding, ensures a secure and comfortable grip even during changes in slope or prolonged use. The three 7075 aluminum sections, with diameters of 18/16/14 mm, ensure an ideal balance between strength and lightness, while the two aluminum levers allow for quick and precise adjustment. Weighing 240 grams, Elbrus is designed to accompany every step without adding fatigue. It comes with 95 mm and 50 mm baskets to adapt to different terrain conditions. Ogni terreno richiede l’attrezzatura giusta. In montagna non esiste un’unica configurazione valida per tutte le condizioni: per questo gli accessori dei bastoncini sono progettati per adattarsi al contesto e garantire sempre un appoggio efficace. In primavera la montagna è un ibrido, nei boschi il sentiero “rinasce” ma sopra i 1.800–2.000 metri la neve resiste ancora. In queste settimane la montagna cambia volto: basta salire un po’ sopra Roncobello, verso la zona di Pietra Quadra, per ritrovarsi a fare trekking immersi nei primi crocus della stagione. Sono tra i fiori più iconici delle quote alpine: li trovi già dai 1200–1800 metri, appena la neve si ritira, come se avessero fretta di ricordarci che l’inverno è davvero finito.

Durano poco, pochissimo: qualche settimana appena. Forse è proprio questa loro fragilità a renderli così speciali per chi cammina. Eppure sono fiori tenaci, capaci di bucare la neve e aprirsi al sole anche quando l’aria è ancora pungente. Per molti escursionisti i crocus sono un simbolo di ripartenza: il primo colore dopo mesi di bianco, il segnale che i sentieri tornano vivi.

È il momento perfetto per tirare fuori i bastoncini, lasciarsi guidare dal ritmo del sentiero e godersi quella sensazione rara di essere esattamente nel posto giusto, al momento giusto.

They last a short, very short time: just a few weeks. Perhaps it's precisely this fragility that makes them so special for hikers. Yet they are tenacious flowers, capable of piercing the snow and opening to the sun even when the air is still biting. For many hikers, crocuses are a symbol of a new beginning: the first color after months of white, the sign that the trails are alive again.

Quando si cammina in montagna sulla neve, può capitare di incontrare tratti in cui è necessario usare le ciaspole, soprattutto all’inizio dei sentieri, dove la neve nel bosco fatica a sciogliersi. Una volta raggiunta la cima, però, può succedere che, grazie alle temperature più alte e all’esposizione al sole, la neve si sia sciolta e non sia più necessario utilizzarle. In questi casi è sufficiente agganciare le ciaspole allo zaino e proseguire il percorso con scarponcini impermeabili. Allo stesso modo, nei punti più alti o in zone d’ombra, si possono trovare tratti ghiacciati. Avere nello zaino dei pratici ramponcini, che riducono il rischio di scivolamento, insieme a dei bastoncini da trekking, permette di superare questi passaggi in modo molto più sicuro.

When hiking in the mountains on snow, you may encounter sections where snowshoes are necessary, especially at the beginning of trails, where the snow in the forest is slow to melt. Once you reach the summit, however, thanks to higher temperatures and exposure to the sun, the snow may have melted and it's no longer necessary to use them. In these cases, simply attach your snowshoes to your backpack and continue the trail in waterproof boots. Likewise, at higher elevations or in shaded areas, you may encounter icy sections. Carrying practical crampons in your backpack, which reduce the risk of slipping, along with trekking poles, allows you to negotiate these sections much more safely.
